the final farewell (almost)

The last couple of years have been quite eventful for my sister. It's not my story to tell and, to be quite honest, it's too long and boring (she tells it fairly succinctly on her blog), but suffice it to say that today she flew out of Heathrow to start a new life in America with her lovely fiancé.

It's really exciting. She's getting married in April and we're flying over there and it's going to be lovely. But the past year in particular has not been without its hiccups. It's been really tricky for my mum, especially, to accept the fact that her daughter is moving away. And that has totally affected the family. It's a completely different environment to what it was two or so years ago. It's just been difficult for everyone involved, none more so than my sister. I'm not sure it's going to be something that my mum will ever get used to, but hopefully it will get easier.

I'm sure I'll get to the 'oh, you actually live here now and you're not coming back' stage at some point. Then it'll get messy (hello, tears). But for now, I'm just looking forward to going back out to Texas for the wedding and seeing my sister become Mrs Griffin!

Goodness only knows you deserve it after everything you've had to deal with!
