lights, camera, actions!

Still smiling at that witty title? No? Okay then, let's move on.

I only discovered very recently what actions actually are. For those of you who are in the same boat as I was, they're basically presets that you can use in Photoshop for editing photographs, but they can be layered on top of one another and adjusted so that you never have to use them the same way twice. It's kind of like using a clever online photo editor. In other words, they're awesome. Anyway, I was introduced to them via A Beautiful Mess (thanks, guys!) and when they released their Elements pack yesterday I decided I'd try them out (I got Elements free whilst I was at college - one of the many thing studying art was good for).
I always want to edit my photos properly, but have never really got round to figuring out how, and I'm hoping this'll be a bit of motivation. One thing I have already learnt whilst trying these out is that they can't always magically make a photo look wonderful - it's got to be a good photo in the first place!
What with heading off to Texas in a couple of weeks for my sister's wedding (oh my goodness I am so excited!), I'm hoping I'll have a few more photos to share which have been edited using these actions. But, for now, here are a (very) random selection of photos edited using the A Beautiful Mess Elements collection.
While trawling through photos I rediscovered the gem on the right. My sister, everyone!
Considering a few weeks ago I didn't know what actions were, and I'm a photo editing beginner, I'm pretty impressed with how some of these turned out. It's going to be a case of practice makes perfect, but things are looking good so far!
