the june playlist

June has arrived, which means summer has begun. The beginning of this week was more January than June, but the sun has finally decided to stick around for a little while. I'm so ready to break out the Birks (I need to purchase some first to replace the ones I completely wore out last year) and enjoy not having to worry about whether it's going to rain. Although I do live in England, so maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up too much. While most of my friends finished uni for the summer a couple of weeks ago, I still have six weeks left. But I'm getting increasingly excited for my summer holidays - my last before working life begins. Terrifying! I already know that Florence is going to be the soundtrack to my summer (that album is definitely a grower), but there's a hell of a lot of other good music that's been floating around lately. Cue paragraph about this month's playlist. It's even appearing a little earlier than usual. So organised.

I am so glad Oh Wonder is a thing, because they come out with songs like this. Same with The Vaccines, to be honest. Boat to Row and Will Joseph Cook both came to my attention via Twitter, I think. I lose track. Either way, I'm glad I found them. Leon Bridges brings some much needed soul to those sunshine filled days. Tame Impala, Frances and RHODES provide the perfect soundtrack to a chilled out summer evening. And then two absolutely cracking tunes by Lianne La Havas and Jamie xx to begin and end the playlist. What more could you want (other than for me to stop mentioning summer)?
