the october playlist

So university is back in full swing, third year is already getting way too much, and I only have two weeks left until the 5.30am wake up calls start once more. However, I've been filling my life with fun things to try and take my mind off it - seeing the incredible Florence + The Machine live (finally!), laughing so hard at Michael McIntyre that my belly ached in the morning, and watching Birmingham Royal Ballet perform Swan Lake on my birthday (turning 21 has got me all sophisticated) to name all three.

In music news, normal service has resumed after last month's playlist. I think it's a good one. A lot of these songs are the kind that you hear played on the radio and just gradually seem to get to know them and then live for them every time they're played (Raury, Swim Deep, Disclosure, Jamie Lawson - I'm looking at you). The Japanese House did the most incredible session for Huw Stephens on Radio 1 the other week so I decided she deserved to feature. Little May also has Huw to thank, because it's on his show that I heard this song and fell a tiny bit in love. Nick Mulvey is here because I am inwardly crying at the fact it's been around a year since I saw him play in Birmingham. I still think he is the best live act I have seen. And new music from Newton Faulkner, Matt Corby and Laurence Fox all in the same week. Hell yes!

The next time that I write one of these I will be mid way through my first placement block of third year, so I apologise in advance for its delay/terrible music choices/poorly written text. I suggest you make the most of this one!
